Proofreading: I'll correct spelling, punctuation, and grammatical errors, and make style changes for consistency's sake. This is the fastest and most economical service. For writers who have already had their worked critiqued prior to publication, this can be an excellent way to have that final "second set of eyes" immediately before self-publishing, or before sending your manuscript to agents or editors.
Copyediting: I'll do all of the above, but will also edit for clarity, word choice, structure and flow. The edit will focus on eliminating wordiness, awkward word choices, vagueness, poor sentence structure and problems with logic or cohesion. This may include suggestions for rephrasing sentences, as well as other comments about ways to improve your project.
Critiques: For clients who would like a detailed look at their manuscripts and ways to improve them, I offer critiques of plot, narrative structure, pacing, characterization, story arc, voice, and other issues. I've edited everything from picture books to Young Adult, and both adult fiction and non-fiction. Business books are one specialty, but I enjoy working on a variety of types of manuscripts.
Writing: I can help you write query letters, synopses, editorial proposals, newsletters, website copy, and many other types of projects.
All editing work is done remotely by digital file. I use Word's "Track Changes" to make all changes and comments, so clients are able to see exactly what I have edited and then accept or reject those changes.
